I’ve been wireframing websites and web apps since long before I’d ever even heard of UX Design. It’s always been an important part of my design process for more complex sites. Although drag and drop website builders have taken away the need to wireframe more basic designs since it’s just as quick to build the site and change it if need be.
Favourite wireframing application…
My favourite wireframing application is Balsamiq because
- it is quick and easy to use,
- it doesn’t introduce the aspect of colour which is great, since colour comes after the wireframing process to avoid it distorting decisions out of context
- the hand drawn sketch style really brings it home to stakeholders not familier with the process that the wireframes are not the final designs and are just a plan
Although I keen to start using Axure since it allows easy collaboration and even some user testing.
Anyhow here are a few wireframes I made earlier, please note a some of these wireframes are ‘pre-war’ and the clients / businesses have come and gone…
